Equine Emergency First Aid Training Course and
Advanced Emergency First Aid Training Course – Wilderness Edition
Join us on Saturday, September 26 for the LEVEL 1 course. A one day hands-on course with horses covering: what your vet needs to know when you call, conditioning a horse to accept treatment, taking proper vital signs, dealing with lacerations, punctures, colic, choke, collapse, casting, shock, hoof issues, recognizing pain in the horse, sources of pain and alleviation, spinal health, injury prevention and so much more! All attendees receive a certificate of completion, first aid manual and this course earns you professional development credits with Equestrian Canada as well as equine-related insurance discounts!
(The Equine Health and First Aid Course is recommended prior to taking the Advanced Course)
Stay with us on Sunday, September 27 for the LEVEL 2 course. A one day highly advanced equine emergency first aid course for the adventurous outdoor rider and learn what to do in more extreme situations!
With a camping and stitching component, this also covers everything from assessing the condition of a horse to trapped horses, poison, burns and bites, hypo/hyperthermia, tie ups, fractures and sucking chest wounds, this course prepares the student to handle the most serious injuries, where without human intervention the horse will not survive.
The hands-on portions of the course will be conducted in small groups of 4-5 people; therefore everyone does not need to bring their horse,
We will be sending a link to a discussion group once you register so that the participants may meet each other (online at least) beforehand, to have a chance to form groups and discuss which horses will attend.
For those that bring their horse there is a $10/day fee.
There are outside stalls for the horses. You would be required to bring an enclosure for the gate area as there is no gates on the stalls, (I plan on bringing some chain or rope to tie off the opening. )
There is water on site, but the horse owner is required to provide their own hay and water bucket.
There is overnight “cowboy” camping available on site. $15/night. Washrooms are available.
There will be a concession on site, during the day at least.
Ideally, I feel 2 horses per group would be perfect, that way they could be switched out for them to have a break from the hands-on experience.

Equipment and material required for the course are provided.
